UK businesses Can Access Horizon Europe

Matt Symonds
Director

Following the end of the UK’s transition period to leave the EU, a deal between the UK and Europe has been made, in which, the UK will associate with the Horizon Europe programme – allowing UK businesses to continue to access EU research and innovation funding until 2027.

What is Horizon Europe?

Horizon Europe is a seven year (2021-2027) €95.5 billion programme of which € 53.8 billion is available to focus particularly on Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness pillar of Horizon Europe.

Focus areas for funding will be:

  • Health
  • Culture, creativity and inclusive society
  • Civil security for society
  • Digital, industry and space
  • Climate, energy and mobility
  • Food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment

It is expected that the programme will begin to go live in Spring 2021, with the first competitions released in April 2021.

Horizon 2020

The Horizon 2020 programme is coming to a close, however, UK businesses can continue to access the remaining Horizon 2020 competitions and submit applications as usual.
