A fascination with all things microscopic, from bacteria to immune cells to viruses, motivated me to first study Biomedical Science and then pursue a PhD in respiratory bacterial co-infections. My PhD took me across the world to establish collaborative, field-based studies in Ecuador and Malawi, and eventually led to me taking part in the ICURe Program (Innovate UK). As part of ICURe, I was funded to “get out the lab” and validate the market potential of a rapid diagnostic test for bacterial pneumonia and sepsis, which opened my eyes to the world of innovation and commercialisation.
Following a short stint as an academic researcher, I turned my attention to the biotechnology industry and joined a SME specialising in providing analytical solutions for nanoparticle-based research. As the third person to join the SME, I took on a range of roles as required for the growing business and enjoyed collaborating with academics, start-ups and big pharma to help develop their ideas and research. Here at TBAT, I look forward to learning about new technologies and assisting clients in navigating their R&D journeys.
Outside of work, I balance my time relaxing with my two very lazy greyhounds with gym training for functional fitness competitions.
