Over the past 20 years, we have built a strong team of expert consultants with a wide range of industry knowledge and backgrounds, to support our wide variety of clients.
Over the past 20+ years, we have built a strong team of expert consultants with a wide range of industry knowledge and backgrounds, many having previously worked in R&D, to support our wide variety of clients.
Our team includes members with PhDs in Physics, Materials Engineering, Sustainable Manufacturing, Sports Engineering, and Biosciences. Additionally, we have specialists with degrees in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Nanotechnology, Chemistry, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Experimental Physics, and Engineering.
This extensive industry expertise is vital for accurately assessing our clients’ R&D activities and identifying opportunities for them to benefit from our range of innovation support services.
We first began supporting businesses to claim R&D Tax Credits in 2012, and have developed a team of 8 consultants dedicated to working on the financial and technical aspects of R&D Tax Relief claims.
Our in-house Accountant and Finance Director, Elaine Williams, is a member of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) with 20 years of post-qualification experience. Elaine now specialises in R&D Tax Credits and has over 3 years of experience in this area. As an ICAEW member, she ensures that TBAT follows the PCRT (Professional Conduct in Relation to Taxation) principles and standards of behaviour and that the team is kept up to date with all relevant changes in the world of R&D tax and accounting. Elaine is responsible for reviewing all of the R&D financial claims prepared by TBAT, as well as liaising with accountants to ensure that R&D claims are entered correctly onto the CT600 tax returns.
TBAT is also a member of the HMRC’s Research and Development Communication Forum which meets twice a year to discuss the operational delivery of the R&D Tax Relief schemes. This gives us the opportunity to hear about HMRC policy updates and proposals and give feedback based on our experience in the specialised field of R&D Tax.
In addition to the qualifications our team already have in their independent fields, we have 2 team members studying to achieve their Chartered Tax Advisor Training (CTA) qualification, with the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT); recognised as the highest level tax qualification in the UK.
Our team of Grant Funding Consultants have a vast amount of experience and knowledge in assisting companies to find the right funding competition for their projects, across both UK and EU funding schemes.
Their wide knowledge of cutting-edge technology and funding schemes gives them the ideal skill-set to help companies secure Grant Funding from funding bodies such as Innovate UK, BEIS, NIHR, DASA, and Horizon Europe.
Our internal processes and ISO accreditations ensure the team continually assess and improve their application writing techniques to align with what the funding body assessors are looking for.
To further complement our own team and services, we’re proud to have built an extraordinary Partner Network of other service providers that can assist businesses to fund, protect, and manage their innovative projects and companies.
Our network consists of the broad range of service providers that growing UK businesses may need access to, including:
We understand the importance of a reliable referral, therefore our long-standing relationships and trust in these partners mean we’d happily recommend any of them to our clients.
