Bethan Roullier

I have always been an avid reader, from devouring novel after novel as a child, moving on to scientific papers and journals as my love for science and technology grew. I turned this thirst for knowledge into academic success and graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Master’s in Experimental Physics, having also studied Materials Science and Chemistry to get to that point. Following University, I had a brief stint in the Environment Agency before discovering the world of grant funding. I began as a Technologist, delivering computer-simulated solutions for a number of projects including ones developing low cost thermoelectric generators, specialised buoyancy aids for ultra-deep-water oil and gas exploration, and ash particle detectors for deployment on aircraft.

From here, I moved into grant writing (Thermostable Vaccine development, Modular automated vehicle assembly, Connecting SMEs to OEMs in aerospace value chains to name a few) and quickly discovered enjoyment in the fast-paced work. I now employ the broad learning approach I have honed over the years to my proposal writing, delving deep into subjects from security for the internet of things to modular automated vehicle assembly.

Outside of work I still read, mostly fiction, and also enjoy baking and going to rock concerts.
