The UK is renowned for its innovations and ability to solve engineering problems. It has a wealth of innovators with great ideas, which have the potential to solve the challenges within the automotive industry.

The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) created the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) to support bright ideas and help inventors make a real impact.

Through TDAP, technology developers can receive up to £100K of funding in return for their time spent developing their innovation. As well as injecting cash to allow technologies to accelerate, the APC’s handpicked team of specialists will also provide a wealth of knowledge and guidance. This  team will be able to assist in mapping a route to market in the automotive industry or elsewhere, make the connections within the automotive supply chain and providing business development support where needed.

It is a programme designed for technology developers, SMEs, and micro businesses with a spark. The phased programme supports technologies to ensure they reach their maximum potential and help to change the world.

TDAP will take TDs through a four-stage process that will prepare the TD’s for engagement in automotive OEM and Tier 1 development programmes.

Successful applications will be provided with technical and industry specialist support to guide you through the programme. If you complete all stages, your product or service is expected to achieve Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) 5 and a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6.

The APC TDAP programme provides funding and independent expert support to help Technology Developers to:

  • Assess the technical, manufacturing and commercial readiness of your technology and business against industry benchmarks
  • Plan the commercialisation, market entry, routes to production and funding opportunities
  • Manage your way through automotive standards and processes for new product introduction
  • Engage with advanced engineering and programme teams of UK, European and global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
  • Identify viable and supportive supply chain partners
  • Bolster your own investment levels with independent, matched funding
