Overview

Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest up to £1 million. This is to support UK businesses to collaborate with Indian businesses and European partners on One Health-focused solutions for the Indian market.

Scope

The aim of this competition is to provide innovative solutions to the challenges of affordable health in India. Your proposal must focus on integrated healthcare in India and provide solutions that are:

  • economical
  • sustainable
  • user-centric

The aim of this competition is to support collaborative R&D and innovation projects that are focused on One Health in India.

One Health is a multidisciplinary approach to improving a patient’s experience of a holistic and integrated healthcare system.

Innovate UK will only fund projects that provide affordable innovative solutions for India, for:

  • disease prevention and control
  • point of care diagnostics
  • treatment of infectious and chronic diseases
  • treatment outcomes
  • efficient use of health resources

Exclusions

Innovate UK will not fund projects that:

  • do not meet ODA eligibility requirements
  • do not target the scope areas under One Health detailed in this brief
  • do not have India as the primary market
  • have negative environmental and social impacts

Eligibility

To be eligible for funding and to lead a project you must:

  • be a UK based business
  • partner with at least one Indian organisation eligible to receive funding from India’s Department of Biotechnology
  • show that India is the primary target market for the project and project outcomes
  • show how your project fits within the Official Development Assistance (ODA) criteria of the Newton Fund
  • have met the eligibility criteria detailed in the EUREKA GlobalStars call for proposals document
  • have submitted a joint EUREKA project application form with the project consortium

Funding Costs

Total eligible project costs from UK project partners combined can range from £350,000 to £450,000. This gives rise to a grant for UK partners of no more than £300,000 per project. If your project requests total grant above the maximum of £300,000, it will be deemed out of scope.

Projects should focus on industrial research.

For industrial research projects, you could get funding for your eligible project costs of:

  • up to 70% if you are a micro or small business
  • up to 60% if you are a medium-sized business
  • up to 50% if you are a large business
