The aim of this solar competition is to improve Europe’s market share in solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) technologies.

The joint, co-funded competition is a transnational call for research and development (R&D) proposals. Projects should support the rapid development and implementation of solar technologies within the defined scope. Proposals should include R&D for the technology readiness levels (TRL) 4 to 7.

This competition is jointly funded under Horizon 2020’s ERA-NET Cofund Programme.

The national and regional funding bodies from participating countries and regions, including the UK, will jointly implement the funding.

From a UK perspective, the following topics will be considered:

  • innovative and low-cost PV manufacturing issues
  • advanced PV products and applications
  • PV system integration
  • aspects of CSP cost reduction and system integration
