About

There is a new £9.2 million Industrial Energy Efficiency Accelerator (IEEA) to help strengthen the global competitiveness of British industry. Over the next four years the IEEA aims to lower costs and increase the number of available energy efficient technologies for a range of industrial sectors, through demonstration of near to market innovations.

The programme is open to all sectors and is technology neutral, targeting near-commercial innovations that will have the largest cross-sectoral impact on industrial energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

The first competition will be open from September 2017 to January 2018.

Further details to be released at the end of August 2017.

The Carbon Trust will be running a series of engagement workshops to help both industry and innovators identify the best opportunities and to encourage applications from high quality, high impact pilot projects.  Click here to see dates and locations.

What will the accelerator involve?

The application process is open until January 2018 with the aim of engaging with technology developers looking for opportunities to demonstrate their near-commercial solutions and access incubation support.

The Accelerator aims to address both technical and commercial challenges by providing tailored incubation support and co-funding to technology developers and start-ups to drive UK expertise.

The BEIS expect to be able to support between 15 and 30 pilot projects which will be selected through the competitive application process to receive funding and implementation advice.

Projects will be selected based on a number of criteria in addition to carbon and energy impact including potential for replication, financial attractiveness and wider economic impact.
